PayPal Giving Fund Australia is a Public Ancillary Fund (ABN 65 106 950 945) registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a tax concession charity and deductible gift recipient (“PayPal Giving Fund,” “we” or “our”). The PayPal Giving Fund is operated for the benefit of Eligible Charities. “Eligible Charities” includes the funds, authorities or institutions that:
are charitable or would be a ‘charity’ within the meaning of the Charities Act 2013 (Cth) if it were not a ‘government entity’ as defined in that Act (with the exception of public and private ancillary funds); and
gifts to which are deductible under item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth); and
have been verified as to their identity; and
do not promote hate, violence, racial intolerance, or engage in money laundering or other illegal activities.
The PayPal Giving Fund operates a website located at https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/givingfund/home (the “Site”) which assists:
users of PayPal, Facebook and other websites or services with which we partner in donating to the PayPal Giving Fund in support of Eligible Charities; and
charities that may be Eligible Charities in benefitting from donations that the PayPal Giving Fund receives;
(together, “you” or “your”).
This Privacy Policy describes your privacy rights regarding our collection, use, storage, sharing and protection of your personal information. It applies to the Site and all related sites, applications, services and tools regardless of how you access or use them.
When referred to in this policy, the term “personal information” includes any information that can be used to personally identify you. This could include your name, address, phone number, email address or date of birth.
Scope and consent
PayPal Giving Fund (as a data controller) has implemented this Privacy Policy as part of our commitment to protecting your personal information from misuse. We collect your PayPal transaction details from PayPal Australia Pty Limited to assist in making donations to Eligible Charities and to maintain records of all individual transactions conducted through the PayPal Giving Fund Services. Those records are associated with each Eligible Charity’s individual account profile within the PayPal Giving Fund system. Please note that your PayPal passwords will never be shared with PayPal Giving Fund.
We may also collect the internet protocol address (IP address) and other identifying information about the computer or device you use to access or use the PayPal Giving Fund Services or the Site to help detect possible instances of unauthorised donations or transactions.
Use and disclosure of collected personal information
PayPal Giving Fund uses personal information to:
operate the Sites and provide the Services, including to:
receive donations, including but not limited to, billing donors and obtaining authorisations for payments (e.g., credit card payments, PayPal or other electronic payments);
verify your identity;
communicate with you about your donations, the Sites or Services and unaffiliated businesses;
create an account connection between you and a third-party account or platform; and
perform compliance checks, evaluate applications, and compare information for accuracy and verification purposes;
communicate with each Eligible Charity;

evaluate ways to improve the PayPal Giving Fund Services;
comply with our obligations and to enforce the terms of our Sites and Services, including to comply with all applicable laws and regulations;
prevent fraud and manage risk;
manage our business needs, such as monitoring, analysing and improving the Services and the Site’s performance and functionality;
tailor certain Services or Site experiences to better match our understanding of your interests;
provide personalised Services on third-party websites and online services, including to provide a targeted display, feature or offer to you on third-party websites. We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to provide these online services and/or work with other third-parties such as advertising or analytics companies to provide these online services;

When you donate to the PayPal Giving Fund via Facebook or any of our other partners, we disclose your name, address, contact details, donation amount, tax receipt and transaction history to that partner to facilitate the donation.
When you donate to PayPal Giving Fund you can choose to disclose your name and contact information to the benefitting charity you designate. An Eligible Charity that benefits from your donation may use this information to communicate with you about your donation.
We will disclose certain personal information such as your name and contact details collected from you through the PayPal Giving Fund Services to PayPal and other websites and services with which we partner in order to provide the Services as well as to report on and evaluate the operation of our Services.
We may also provide personal information about you to our third-party service providers under contracts that support our business operations. These third parties are prohibited from using your personal information for any other purpose than those disclosed in this Privacy Policy.
We may be subject to legal requirements to disclose information collected through the PayPal Giving Fund Services, and our policy is to comply fully with all such legal requirements.
